Even when a house has no lightning grounding installation, consisting of a conducting network on the roof and down going conductors around the house (like in figure 11), there are a number of measures possible which you can take yourself.
With these measures a relative good level of security against damage caused by a lightning hit can be achieved, if also the measures under 1, 2 and 3 are taken.
